The Club Registration system has long enjoyed the powerful features of the Custom Reports system with it's ability to easily select field, set groupings, apply filter, and customize sort orders. A number of clubs have been requesting the same powerful control provided by the custom report feature, applied to registration confirmation lists. Previously, registration Confirmation Lists had only limited settings, with the need to edit each element to specify it's "Show on Confirmation" status. You will notice this setting has now disappeared and had been replaced by a new main tab in your Registration editing interface.
The new Confirmation List tab will be familiar to anyone who has used the Custom Report feature as it's the exact same concept and interface. First, you must select whether the list will be private or public. As before, this is a key decision that will affect which elements you select to be displayed on your confirmation list. Once that is decided, start by expanding the "Select Fields" area by clicking that panel link.
Just as you do in the Custom Reports area, select the fields you want to include, and optionally select the order they are to appear on the report using the Ordinal drop down menus. Note that for Fee Elements, you can select either the Text portion, the $ Value, or both columns which gives you much finer grained control compared to the old confirmation list system which could ONLY show both. To hide the "Select Fields" area, just click the text again. The other main custom report section that will get used quite often for Confirmation Lists is the "Order By" area. In the old Confirmation lists, the only ordering applied was the registration date which made finding your name very difficult. By harnessing the extensive flexibility of the Custom Reports system, the new Confirmation Lists can have ANY ordering. The most common though would be to order first by LastName, and then by FirstName by adding each Order By element to your list. This will present a nice alphabetically ordered list so registrants can easily find themselves or others if needed (for Private confirmation lists, a custom Order By would have no affect as only the registrants data is displayed via a special encrypted link in the email receipts.)
The other two sections for "Filter By" and "Group By" have less relevance in most Confirmation List scenarios, but they were left in as I'm sure some club will find a situation which calls for that flexibility and it's something already built into the Custom Reports system. An example where the Group By feature might be desired is if say you wanted to Group By the a "Race Category" element to visually break up your confirmation list into grouped blocks. The Filter By section will rarely be used as I can't imagine a situation where you would want to limit your confirmation list to only certain individuals and hide others so use that area wisely if at all. The other feature that was added to the Custom Reports system which was specifically requested by clubs for confirmation lists was a "Totals" bar at the bottom of the page so a quick status could be determined from the confirmation list area without logging into the Club account area. This has now been implemented for both Custom Reports and Confirmation Lists.
All existing registrations have now had their old confirmation lists upgraded to the new format. You can now edit those confirmation lists using the new interface so we encourage you to login and feel free to edit any of your existing registrations to improve your confirmation lists with the new feature.
