KanPaddle Kayak Day Camp #3 Registration
July 22 - 25, 2013
Spend four fun-filled days on the water learning to kayak! Our professional and certified instructors will guide you through a safe, but challenging week of paddling fun!
No prior experience is necessary but participants should be at least 12 years old. Some exceptions will be made - please contact us ( info@kanpaddle.ca , 403-880-7926 ) prior to registering.
Our Schedule:
Day 1: We start our first session at the Elevation Place swimming pool on Monday morning where we will learn about our equipment, how to get into and out of our boats even when upside down, and feeling comfortable moving around. In the afternoon, we take our new skills outside to Quarry Lake to work on basic paddle strokes learning how to maneuver our boats. We play our favorite games and even start to
Day 2: On day three we spend the day on Rundle Channel where we test our skills on gently moving water. We will learn about reading the river, eddy turns, ferries, and paddling through waves learn how to roll our kayaks!
Day 3: We finish the week off on the Bow River or the Kananaskis, depending on the group's comfort level. where all of our skills are utilized in a fun filled day of on river activity.
Day 4: We spend another full day of paddling on a local river. The Bow River (below Ghost Dam), Harvie Passage (Calgary) or The mighty Kananaskis are all options, depending on the group and the weather.
The camp cost includes your kayaking equipment, personal wear gear, transportation, professional instruction.
You bring your own water shoes/booties or sandals ( mandatory for river runs ), bathing suit, long sleeve underlayer (non cotton), lunch for the day, sunscreen, and a smile!
Please meet at Elevation Place at 9:00 am with return time around 4:30.
Waiver
A waiver or Acknowledgement of Risk form (for participants under the age of 18) is required from each participant. Please download, print (double sided) and sign the appropriate form below and bring it to the first session.
